Jingyang was born in Hubei Province, China. He received his B.S. with Honors in Chemistry from Wuhan University in 2020 under the guidance of Professor Hans Renata at Scripps Research. From 2017 to 2019, he studies Catellani reaction in Professor Qianghui Zhou’s group at Wuhan University, then he came to UCLA and researched in the total synthesis of marine natural product in Professor Patrick Harran’s group. He then moved to Scripps Research and worked on chemoenzymatic total synthesis and methodology development in Professor Hans Renata’s group. Jingyang came to the University of Illinois and joined the Sarlah group in the fall of 2021. In addition to making molecules, he is interested in bodybuilding, reading, programming and Chinese astrology (Purple Star Astrology).
